Kings/Devils Game 5 Prediction

Martin Brodeur
I did not expect the Devils to stave off elimination and beat the Kings in game four. But you just never know in the NHL playoffs. So in tonight's matchup, it will again come down to what team minimizes mistakes and can capitalize off any of the other teams mistakes. One aspect of this series many people have neglected is the brilliance of Martin Brodeur. He matched Jonathan Quick in the first two games in regulation and was the victim of a great goal by Anze Kopitar in game one and a fluky goal by Jeff Carter in game two. Besides game three, Brodeur has been equal to Quick in my opinion. If the Devils can find enough goalscoring, which they have not been able to do in this series, they will take game five and send the series back to Los Angeles. Martin Brodeur backstops at least one more Devils win as the series heads to a sixth game.

New Jersey 3-2

2012 Prediction Record
NHL Playoffs: 1-1

Total: 4-2
